MMDS: (Multi-channel,
Multi-point Distribution System), the new, proven technology of
the 90's, brings TV channels and Wireless Internet to more subscribers
economically than ever before. Reliable MMDS-wireless systems
can be installed quicker and at lower cost, generating more profits.
Not only is it economical, it is environmentally friendly. Without
the need to bury cable or even worse, hang them from poles, MMDS
co-exists with the settings around it. The world may have 50 million
optic cable by 2001 but it can never cost-effectively reach low
density and income areas. We have wireless world wide phone systems
in place in Vietnam, Pakistan, Mexico, Malaysia, Nigeria - and
systems in development in another 18 countries.
MMDS: - Wireless
TV Systems, - "wireless cable TV" is now the choice of cable companies
around the world. This system is capable of simultaneously broadcasting
up to 120 TV channels from your studio directly to your subscribers
with no expensive, time-consuming cable installation. MMDS transmits
on SHF (Super High Frequency) microwave frequencies and can be
encoded for pay-for-view and subscriber services, all from your
head-end/studio facility.
Any type of
TV or Internet service that you can think of can be built around
this technology. Whether it is TV, Pay Per-View, Interactive Education
or even just Internet access, MMDS can be the solution.
THE
WIRELESS ADVANTAGE:
1.
Depending on terrain, it is possible that a single MMDS transmitter
can provide service to subscribers within a 50 Kilometer range.
2.
Lower start-up costs. A wireless system is generally less expensive
to set up than cable systems and not as labor intensive for that
setup. Since the initial costs can be as little as one quarter
(25%) the price, combined with lower operating costs, a better
bottom line is the result. This, of course, depends on what is
required of the system.
3.
Lower material costs. The system does not require kilometers of
fiber, coaxial cable, or annual cable maintenance costs. There
are not hundreds of sites to support the cables or concerns about
conduit.
4.
No easements or many land leases needed.
5.
Provide service to areas that could not normally afford or install
the infrastructure. The ease of integrating multiple services
to the end user.
6.
Security is higher at a lower cost.
7.
Customer acceptance and satisfaction. There is no question that
the world has gone wireless, so should YOU TOO!
HERE
IS HOW A WIRELESS SYSTEM WORKS:
From Ground-stations
or studios to Subscriber / End users environment:
1.
The Transmission site, along with the head end, receives programming
from a variety of sources (see below). Each source is assigned
a channel number, processed to improve quality, encoded, and then
sent to a transmitter. The signal is broadcast in the SHF range.
Using an omni-directional transmit pattern, the signal reaches
subscribers located up to 50 km from the antenna, depending on
the terrain and transmit power. This is a line of sight system.
2.
Wireless signals are received by the subscriber's small rooftop
antenna; decoded to determine whether it is Voice, Video or Data
and down loaded to the appropriate device, such as TV, Set top
Box or Computer. In reverse the signal is sent back through a
high-speed wireless modem for Internet connectivity and or interactive
programming. Only your imagination will hold back your programming
here!
3.
For Multiple locations such as an apartment complex or office
building there two ways of dealing with the split environments
either a single antenna is installed with service being distributed
either by cable or an additional wireless format is used. By using
this method, back end software will allow you to bill the appropriate
customer for their personal services or the owner of the property
can be the distributor and receive one bill for all services provided.
The business
Model is the same as traditional services, with deposits and advance
payments as well as maintenance plans.
*** Please
remember that the distribution system from Service provider to
subscriber/ end user is via MMDS. However, there are other wireless
services we provide for Local Area Networks (LAN's) such as Wireless
Network Connections, VoIP Systems and Local Video Distribution.
WIRELESS
SOURCES:
Programming
can be provided from a variety of sources:
1. Broadcasts
from satellite re-transmission (Global coverage).
2. Broadcasts from local stations.
3 .Broadcasts from radio stations.
4. Broadcast from your own studios.
5. Playback from videotapes or other media.
6.Live feeds of all sorts, whether it is TV or Internet Streaming,
Broadband of course!
ADVANTAGES
OF A MMDS WIRELESS SYSTEM:
1.
Signal Reliability.
2.
Security: In the wired world, speed is what is spoken of, but
not security! In the wireless world, security is easier to implement
and can be significantly enhanced for the transmission of data;
certainly more cost effective than that of the "hard-wired world".
3.
Served directly from the facility to subscribers and it is environmentally
friendly: No wires, pole lines, underground cables or other such
devices. Please note, that not only is there convenience to you
AND the end user but cost savings, as you do not have the problems
of cable breaks, phone line problems, down lines, repeater amplifiers
or boosters for customers, vandalism or any other system integrity
that is not within your control.
4.
120 channels of straight broadcast are possible: the average of
30 channels is what most systems will have, however many have
120 channels, and improvements in digital technology leave promise
for more.
5.
Availability: As long as the subscriber/end user has direct line
of sight to the transmitter they are capable of receiving services
from the system. That is an antenna on the subscriber's/end user's
location has direct line of sight. Our business targets locations
that normally would not be either economically feasible or where
right of way and installation ability would make it prohibitive.
Many less fortunate areas do not have the infrastructure required
to allow for Cable TV, much less Internet access due to phone
line constraints. That is assuming of course that phone lines
are even available.
6.
Cost of Operation: with costs of technology today, a fully functional
wireless system may be built for less than a quarter (25%) the
cost of a "hard-wired system". It is even more cost effective
for Internet as well. Customer's equipment costs are normally
covered by the customer or a type of marketing plan that will
reduce the total cost of ownership, In any case, no system requires
large financial outlays by the owner, as compared to a "hard-wired
system". Typically maintenance and repairs are costly with a "hard-wired
system", franchising fees can be high and local cities often require
free local access. This problem is often overcome with a wireless
system.
7.
Capital Requirements: Typically Wireless systems may be built
for less than one quarter, (25%) of "hard-wired systems". Since
the customer or long-term contracts normally absorb the equipment
cost, long-term outlays by the owner are not required. Pole, cable,
amplifier or rights of way take significant time and money to
develop. Though the head end and subscriber/end user equipment
costs may be similar to that of "hard-wired systems", the overall
transmission costs of a wireless system greatly improves the margin
of the operator. "Hard-wired systems" costs often greatly exceed
the revenue potential of an area served.
8.
Market Competitiveness: MMDS and wireless systems in general have
a definite advantage over "hard-wired systems" in that the required
capitalization and operating costs are lower. Typically Cable
TV and Internet are much more capital intensive and costly to
operate. This is due to staffing and hardware requirements to
service the subscriber/end user. This cost is passed onto the
subscriber/end user.
Bottom line:
A wireless system provides the speed, coverage and Total Cost
of Operation, which is less expensive and more efficient than
the "hard-wired world". Time to start, expand, flexibility and
SECURITY cannot be matched by the wired world. Is it not time
for YOU to be FREE… ?
